John Makowski’s practice primarily includes defense of governmental entities from employment discrimination claims, civil rights claims, prisoner claims, and general liability claims. He also defends physicians and long-term care facilities. Mr. Makowski’s law practice and extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts also includes general insurance defense, automobile and premises liability, business litigation, and litigation under ERISA. Mr. Makowski became a member of the State Bar of Georgia in 1997. He is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and in the State and Superior Courts of Georgia.
Mr. Makowski earned a B.B.A. in Risk Management from the University of Georgia (1990) and a J.D. from Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law (1997). Mr. Makowski’s professional involvement includes membership in the Macon Bar Association and the American Bar Association. In addition, he is a member of the William Augustus Bootle American Inn of Court, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
